How to count the days between two dates

The calculator subtracts the start date from the end date. By default the start day is counted and the end day is not, which is how most deadlines and durations work (from 1 to 2 March is one day). Tick “include the end date” to count both days, for example for the length of a holiday or a rental.

The result is also shown in years, months and days, in weeks, and as working days: days that are not on the weekend you choose. Public holidays vary by country and are not subtracted.

Adding days, months and business days

Adding months keeps the same day of the month; if that day doesn't exist (31 January + 1 month), the last day of the month is used (28 or 29 February). Adding working days skips weekends, which is useful for delivery times, notice periods and payment terms such as “30 business days”.

Frequently asked questions

How many days are there between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one. From 1 January to 31 December of a non-leap year there are 364 days, or 365 if you count both days.

How do I count business days?

Choose your weekend (usually Saturday and Sunday) and the calculator counts only the other days. Remember to subtract public holidays yourself.

What date is 90 days from today?

Choose “Add or subtract”, enter 90 days and the calculator shows the date and weekday.
