States with no income tax on wages
Nine states do not tax wages: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Washington taxes some capital gains and New Hampshire used to tax interest and dividends, but neither touches your paycheck. Fourteen states have a single flat rate, and the rest use progressive brackets like the federal income tax.
